After graduating from the Siebel Institute of Technology, the nations premier brewing school, Tim Daley and Todd Sullivan began their brewing careers at Mill City Brewing Company in Lowell, Massachusetts. Together they honed their skills, brewing the full line of Mill City ales and lagers from 1995 to 2003. This brewing duo parted ways when Todd accepted the position of head brewer at Hyland's Orchard and Brewery in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. At the same time, Tim became Head Brewer and assistant Vintner at the Nashoba Valley Brewery and Winery in Bolton, Massachusetts. In May of 2004, the Damon family offered the Hyland brewery operation to Todd Sullivan, and he, along with fellow brewer Tim Daley, formed Pioneer Brewing Company. Together they now brew the freshest and finest quality brews available in the Sturbridge area. They pride themselves on being small and staying small, much like the small breweries in the countryside of Europe where community is just as important as the beer itself. The formula is working and they are producing just enough beer to keep their customers happy. They believe whole heartedly that smaller is better and most importantly fresher!
